The signature design that embodies the origins of HACHIMAN KYOTO.
The name “HACHIMAN” comes from Hachiman (八幡), a deity that has been worshipped throughout Japan for centuries. The name can be read as both Hachiman and Yahata.
Hachiman worship has deep ties to Japan’s warrior culture, and Hachiman has long been revered as a god of warriors.
At the same time, tracing the word Yahata and the historical background surrounding Hachiman opens the door to various stories and traditions—from the Hata clan, a group of continental origin believed to have played a role in the development of ancient Kyoto, to the exchange of cultures, craftsmanship, and ideas between East and West along the Silk Road.
Over centuries, cultures and techniques traveled across continents and eventually reached Japan, where they evolved into something uniquely Japanese. Kyoto remains one of the places where this legacy lives on, through exceptional traditions of weaving, dyeing, and craftsmanship.

The brand is based near To-ji Temple in Kyoto.
